Heroes Make Great Examples (Series)

In the past, I’ve written about the people God has placed in my life who encourage me to do better and persevere in my faith. These are people I look to as examples … people who challenge me to love God more and love others better.
This month’s blog is about my Samsam (my beautiful niece) … a woman I deeply admire and someone who continually challenges me by the way she lives her life.
Samsam wears many hats … wife, mom, friend, counselor, encourager, and so much more. But first and foremost, she is a devoted wife to her husband, serving as a senior pastor, and an incredible mom to their three little ones, ages 1, 3, and 5. She homeschools their children and, on top of it all, is preparing to welcome baby number five in the next month (Solomon Job is already in Heaven with the Lord)!
But somehow, her influence reaches far beyond her own home. She has a counseling ministry where she comes alongside women in the community, listens to their struggles, and helps them through difficult seasons. She has a passion for healthy living, natural foods, tinctures, and other remedies, and she willingly shares what she knows whenever she sees someone who might benefit. And as if all of that weren’t enough, she wrote and published a book called Surrender that focuses on strengthening our relationship with God.
There are so many things I love and admire about Samsam, but one quality stands out to me above all the others:
She is content.
In a world that constantly tells us we need more, should do more, or should want something different, Samsam reminds me what it looks like to be grateful for the life God has given you—to serve where He has placed you, love the people He has entrusted to you, and find joy in simply being faithful.
