Excellence In the Ordinary

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much” Luke 16:10. In all aspects of our lives this principle is true. If you cannot be trusted with minor tasks or duties, you cannot be trusted when the important and critical tasks come around but if you are known as the person who gets things done with excellence you will be trusted when the mission critical tasks roll around. If you build a habit of being lazy and sloppy with little you will continue to be lazy and sloppy with much.
I heard a phrase regarding basketball this past winter it was “Excellence in the Ordinary.” I believe this saying embodies what Luke 16:10 says. The point of his phrase is to push yourself and those around you to be excellent, perfect, and disciplined in the mundane and average things. It is never enjoyable to spend a whole practice working on conditioning and defense, but it is necessary to be excellent in these things to be a great team. In the same way businesses need to be excellent with things like how they manage their data or the culture of the organization. While basic when businesses and organizations master these simple and ordinary tasks, they set themselves up to succeed when major projects are at stake.
No matter the situation or task you set yourself apart by striving for excellence in the ordinary.
