Trust the Lord

Today: Today is going to be amazing!

Did you read these two thoughts and think, "That's me!" If so, welcome to being human. You are not alone! Many people struggle with fear and anxiety. Unfortunately, many also come to believe that's how they must live.

I don't believe that's true.

God's Word offers hope. Throughout the Bible, we repeatedly find the commands, "Do not fear," "Fear not," and "Be not afraid." Do you think God knew that many of us would struggle with fear and anxiety? Absolutely. That's why He doesn't just give us a command … He also provides hope, peace, and the solution through His presence and His promises.

Fear doesn't have to define your life. God invites us to trust Him, even when our circumstances try to convince us otherwise.

One of the most well-known passages in the Bible (Proverbs 3:5–6), offers us hope! It speaks to how we make decisions and face uncertainty.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV): "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

What does this mean? Let's break down one verse at a time.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart..."

We need to put our confidence in God, even when we're unsure what will happen. It's about relying on God's wisdom rather than our own abilities or circumstances.

"...and lean not unto thine own understanding."

We should not rely only on what we can understand right now. It doesn't mean we shouldn't think or plan. It means recognizing the limits of our own understanding and being willing to follow where God leads.

"In all thy ways acknowledge him..."

We need to include God in every part of our lives. That can mean praying before making a major decision and/or seeking wisdom from the Bible. Trying to live in a way that reflects our trust in God (faith). It's about making God part of your decision-making process rather than turning to Him only in times of crisis.

"...and he shall direct thy paths."

This doesn't promise that life will always be easy or that we'll always receive immediate answers. Rather, it expresses the idea that as we trust God and seek His guidance, He will help lead us in the direction He wants us to go.

Many people find comfort in these verses because it reminds us that we don't have to have every answer before taking the next faithful step.
