The Value of Family

Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I wanted to write this blog a bit about how important a strong family is in creating a strong individual. What separates the connection between family and other people in one’s life is that blood bond. No matter what you do, your mother will always be your mother, father always your father, siblings always your siblings. With this comes the tradition and expectation that these people who you will always share this physical bond with should always be there for you.
Friends sometimes come and go; there is no physical bond there, but you will have that connection with your family forever. That is why it is important that your family plays that backbone in your life, becoming something that you can always fall on no matter how bad things get. Parents especially play such a huge role in the development of their children, essentially molding them into the person they grow up to be and providing every type of support to them in order to see them succeed and continue the families succeed. This sort of bond even goes beyond humans, as we see this parental role in many animals as well. Having that security of a strong family is what allows you to take risks and chase your dreams in life, as you can always fall back on them if it doesn’t work out.
All of this is to say how important it is to appreciate when this bond is strong and working right, as not every family has it worked out. During Thanksgiving this year, take a second to truly appreciate the bond between yourself and all of your family members and how important that bond was in forming the individual you are today.
