Searching for Ways to be Grateful

November brings time to reflect on the things that you are grateful for. The end of the year starts to speed up with the start of the holidays, but time is built in to slow down and be intentionally grateful. The small things that happen little by little every day stack up quietly, easy to overlook, yet they are the things that make life feel sweet and full. These are the things that help to keep you grounded and hopeful.
A few examples of small things to be grateful for are a favorite food, a fun hobby, a new season of your favorite show, a cozy blanket, or spotting your favorite color throughout the day. These are small (maybe somewhat silly) things to be grateful for, but they make life sweeter. We pass by multiple things each day that we don’t think to be thankful for, but we would surely feel their loss if they were to disappear. A world without blue, good books, or honey (some random things that I like) would not be as enjoyable to me, so I am thankful for them. Some big things I am grateful for are my family and their support, my church, and my job. Each of these pour into me and encourage me to become a better person.
What a privilege it is to be alive. We are surrounded by blessings every single day. Small things that make us smile are often overlooked as things that we take for granted for, but without them, our lives wouldn’t be as joyful. Practice gratitude every day to fully appreciate the life that was given to you, not just on Thanksgiving.
Bottom Line: Joy is everywhere in the small things. There is always something to be grateful for if you choose to look for it.
