People make New Year’s resolutions for many reasons, but mine are always grounded in self-improvement through reflection on past shortcomings. This year, I want to approach the New Year biblically—focusing on reflection, repentance, renewal, and rededication by remembering God’s faithfulness, confessing sin, recommitting to His Word and prayer, and setting eternal goals. Rather than pursuing merely worldly resolutions, I choose to trust in His guidance (Proverbs 3:5–6) and rely on His daily grace one day at a time.
Reflect & Remember God's Faithfulness
Reflection: Acknowledge lessons learned, challenges overcome, and blessings received, praising God for His presence throughout the past year (Psalm 103).
Repent & Renew
Confess & Forgive: Honestly confess sins (1 John 1:9) and seek forgiveness, bringing peace and a fresh start.
Plan & Pray with God's Perspective
Set Spiritual Goals: Aim for deeper intimacy with God, serving Him, and growing in character.
Pray for Guidance: Ask God to direct your steps and help you prioritize eternity (Matthew 6:33).
Pursue God's Word & Presence
Bible in a Year: Commit to a plan to read through the Bible.
Deeper Study: Focus on themes like grace, prayer, service, or specific books.
Consistent Prayer: Dedicate time daily for prayer and listening for His voice.
Trust Daily Grace
Let Go of the Future: Don't carry worries for the whole year; trust God's grace is given daily (Deuteronomy 31:8).
Live for Eternity: Keep the hope of the new heaven and earth in mind to gain perspective on earthly trials.
I am grateful that God’s mercy is renewed every morning, and I am encouraged by the grace He gives us to make things right when we fall short.
